In 1919, CARL MERTENS was born in the world’s knife capital – Solingen, Germany, and named after the founder of the name. CARL MERTENS has always insisted on strict demanding quality and the German tradition of technology inheritance, known to the public and won a good reputation. The tradition of blade manufacturing by CARL MERTENS is also one of the highlights of the Solingen Sharp Blade Museum, and the goods can be purchased in famous shopping malls such as KaDeWe Berlin.
From 1932 onwards, the founder’s son Curt Mertens Sr. took over the factory and under his leadership CARL MERTENS developed into an industrial company employing hundreds of people.
In 1996, CARL MERTENS was invited to start a partnership with the top seven-star luxury hotel, the Dubai Sailing Hotel.
In 2006, CARL MERTENS was invited to exhibit at the prestigious Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, where the Palio collection was highly acclaimed by visitors. The Palio collection is a reinterpretation of German craftsmanship, a commitment to innovation in a new era, and a fusion of pragmatism and contemporary art in a collision of design and technology.
